Canasta is a game where you have to score more points than your opponents in order to win. The points are scored in two ways, first by melding cards and second by creating as many canastas as possible. In order to create a canasta you have to meld at least seven cards together of the same rank. To start the game each player starts with 15 cards and they are only visible at the bottom of the window. They begin each turn by drawing one card from the draw pile and then discarding one card in the trash pile. You take turns drawing cards, as each player draws a card they may meld cards together if they wish to. To meld cards you must meld them into three columns. After melding a card you may not take it back into your hand. Next to end your turn you discard one card and check the cards you have melded to see if they conform to the canasta rules. If and only if you have melded all your cards there is no need for you to discard one card. After a player melds all his cards he doesn’t draw from the draw pile but takes the whole discard pile. The hand ends when one player has no cards remaining or no cards remain on the draw pile. After the hand ends you add up your scores and deal a new hand. To end the game completely the winner most reach 5,000 points and then they are crowned a canasta champion (Canasta).
